Camp Raukawa Holiday Camps

Looking for something ‘more’ for your children during the school holidays? Like the idea of them improving their mental and social development, getting outside their comfort zone and being members of a positive and fun community? Then look no further than holiday camp at Camp Raukawa. Our activities, programming, cabin life, and staff training draws from the famous ‘U.S. Summer Camp’ industry so you know your children are set up for the week of a lifetime. Camp is the perfect place to make new friends, eat good food, express creativity in crafts, push limits on high adventure activities, and make memories to last a lifetime. During the week, campers ‘sign up’ for the activities they’d like to do from the day’s offered activities, sing and chant before meals, participate in big group games at night, play in the river and on the slide in warm weather, eat meals together ‘family-style’, and live in a cabin with other campers. When a child attends holiday camp at Camp Raukawa, they are supervised by our amazing staff including experienced, international staff hired from the U.S summer camp industry. ‘Camp’ is truly the place to create memories to last a lifetime and we’re proud memory makers at Camp Raukawa.

We offer several holiday camps throughout the year. Holiday camps operate for 5 days / 4 nights, Monday to Friday. Camper registration opens 6 weeks prior to the camp and closes 1 week before camp. If you would like to ensure a spot for your children, make sure to sign up early on to avoid disappointment. Please note, a camper is not officially registered for camp until their online registration is fully completed. If you are unable to successfully register your child, please contact YMCA Central on (06) 349 0197. For general camp-life questions, please contact Camp Raukawa directly on (06) 342 8510 or email us at

How We Keep Children Safe

Camp has a culture of community which thrives on the YMCA values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty, and Enjoyment of Life. We expect all staff to demonstrate these values and campers to do the same. One way staff demonstrate these values is with our ‘Discipline with Dignity’ approach to behaviour management. This approach allows staff to address camper behaviour in a respectful way, upholding the child’s dignity. To help keep all campers happy and safe, we ask that all parents and caregivers chat to their camper about the expectations of their behaviour in our camp community before attending camp.

All Camp Raukawa staff are first aid and CPR qualified, police checked, and trained in the YMCA’s policies and procedures for working safely with children. All of our instructors are trained and signed off by an industry technical expert to facilitate adventure activities. Our instructors also act in accordance with our Safety Management System and Standard Operating Procedures which are audited by Outdoors Mark to meet industry standards.
